Diamond Jewellry Sets

Diamond is composed of three parts: crown, girdle, and cornet. The upper side of the girdle is called “crown”. There are 33 facets in the crown. As there are a lot of facets in the crown, more brightness and reflection are seen in this part, which makes the crown looks whiter comparing to the other parts of the diamond. “Girdle” can be natural, polished or faceted. The width of the girdle affects the brightness of a diamond. A diamond with a wide girdle looks matt, however; a diamond with thin girdle is not resisstant to transfixing. The girdle is an important part of a diamond that keeps the diamond sturdy. If there was no girdle, then the diamond would not be used in products.

The lower side of the girdle is called “cornet”, which has 24 facets. The cornet helps the light that comes into the diamond reflect outside. That the diamond is cut with the right angle provides the light going into the diamond to come out of the cornet again by reflecting. Thanks to this reflection, the optimum brightness is supplied. The facet can sometimes be attached to the edge of the cornet in order to prevent the damages that can be arisen at the edge of the cornet that is the most sensitive part of the diamond. Even though it is the hardest mine in the world, diamond is not resistant to the impacts coming from specific directions and can be broken easily.
