Hiddensee Cross

The Hiddensee treasure, discovered by chance in 1873 on the German island of Hiddensee in the Baltic Sea during post-flooding reconstruction, is a remarkable hoard of Viking gold artifacts. Comprising 16 pendants, a brooch, and a neck ring, all crafted from gold and totaling 600 grams (1.3 lb) in weight, it stands as Germany's largest collection of Viking gold artifacts.

Dating back to the late Viking Age, approximately the 10th century, the jewelry exhibits a fascinating blend of Norse pagan and Christian symbols. Among the pendants are depictions of Thor's hammer, Mjölnir, and the Christian cross.
